Clearview A.I. is a private company, marketing third-party image sets as a data source for facial recognition. Clearview has 30 billion images scanned from social media sites. It can take your recent picture and then search the data to find you even in someone else’s picture, captured as you passed by.

Other companies are doing the same and the main remedy is being sought in the law. The biggest concern is the use of private data by police for warrantless surveillance.

It is difficult to know how well these strategies work against facial recognition.
